Job Description

We seek to hire a Business Applications Analyst in our Virginia Beach, VA office.  This position reports to the Information Technology Department Director and is responsible for providing ongoing support, implementation, and innovation of business applications and processes.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work collaboratively with Information Technology systems and infrastructure teams, other department management, clients, and vendors to ensure utilization of the applications meets business needs and is aligned with goals and objectives.
  • Analyze user and business needs, research and identify current and/or new applications to meet those needs, and work collaboratively with departments and teams to innovate procedures and best practices of applications.
  • Work with operational units and their software applications to ensure adoption, establishment of standards for use, continuous improvements and innovation to facilitate effective utilization of the applications.
  • Develop and deliver documentation and training on software applications, to include travel and coordination with offices, departments, and teams.
  • Effectively and accurately evaluate testing, implementation, and integration of assigned applications to meet business needs.
  • Promote and adhere to departmental and organizational information systems security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Effectively and timely communicate application updates and system modifications to pertinent staff across the organization.
  • Regularly engage in current business application practices and attend seminars and continuing education opportunities to maintain expertise.
  • Provide training to Information Technology staff on applications and assist in troubleshooting application specific issues as needed.
  • Effectively plan and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or equivalent education and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Accreditations

The following certifications may be given additional consideration:
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
  • Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT)
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
Technical Skills

A Business Application Analyst should:
  • Be technically proficient in Microsoft Office and business and collaboration solutions commonly used in the architecture and engineering industry.
  • Be able to learn software applications and how they interoperate with business workflows and other applications in business processes.
Career Experience
  • 5 or more years of experience of progressive business applications experience, including experience in multi-office environments
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business practices and project life cycles as they relate to application needs

  • Ability to prepare effective and concise documents
  • Possess technical precision and creative design skills
  • Ability to make presentations to a variety of groups
  • Be dedicated to his or her professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a whole
