Job Description

We seek to hire a Data Entry Intern in our Virginia Beach, VA office who will be part of the marketing team responsible for supporting a large architectural and engineering firm. The ideal candidate will have essential data entry skills, including quick, efficient, and accurate typing with an eye for detail and familiarity with spreadsheets and online forms. The expected duration for this temporary, part-time position is 6 months.  We anticipate a 10-15 hour/week work schedule.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Verifying, collecting, and entering data in Marketing CRM (customer relationship management) databases and maintaining accurate records of valuable company information.
  • Insert and update client and project data by inputting text based and numerical information from source documents within time limits
  • Compile, verify accuracy, and sort information according to priorities to prepare source data for computer entry
  • Review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities if possible, and check output
  • Research and obtain further information for incomplete documents
  • Apply data program techniques and procedures
  • Generate reports, store completed work in designated locations and perform backup operations
  • Scan documents and print files, when needed
  • Keep information confidential, as necessary
  • Respond to queries for information and access relevant files
  • Comply with data integrity and security policies
  • Ensure proper use of office equipment and address any malfunctions

Education

  • High School Senior

Software Skills

  • The Data Entry Intern should be able to effectively utilize company software programs for e-mail and information management. 
  • Experience with MS Office and data programs is required
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification may be given additional consideration

Other Criteria

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Familiarity with administrative duties
  • Experience using office equipment, like printers and scanners
  • Typing speed and accuracy
  • Excellent knowledge of correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Organization skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks
  • Familiarity with the A/E/C (architecture/engineering/construction) industry
  • Ability to prepare effective and concise documents.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Have a client-oriented attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional services.
  • Be dedicated to his or her professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a whole.
